Moving Away From Sony Xperia
I was once a happy man, proud of my high quality built Japanese phone: my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. It truly was my best device so far at that moment. The size is compact, the performance was blazing fast, camera was - meh, but quite good, and that waterproof was just a bliss to have.
Fast forward one year and a few months later, the battery died out. This was when I realize my grave mistake... I can't just take out the battery and replace it and there were no official Sony Service Center in my province, even if there was one, they'll just pass it on to some third party repairer or so I was told; thus losing my waterproof ability once and for all.
Frustrated that my once proud phone reduced to some phone that can only last 3 hours and dies out immediately after some heavy task, I finally decided to sell my Z1 Compact to something else that has great service center around my area and definitely a removable battery: The Samsung Galaxy Note 4. But after a few days, there are a few things I missed already from my old Xperia.
One of the features that separates Xperia Z series with the others is their IP67 certification which made them dustproof and waterproof. Living in a tropical country, this is a huge plus when the rainy season comes. When others have to protect their phones, Xperia Z series users can just chill and pretend nothing is happening. And also taking pictures under water is just very enjoyable.
Walkman, during the era of when portable music player was first introduced, everyone wanted one or at least heard its name. Now an app in Xperia devices renamed into Music just recently, is the best music player in Android that I've ever used. Making me drop third party music player instantly when I previously used PowerAmp daily in my pre-Xperia phones and am still missing it after a few days without it. I really wish Sony will make it available for all devices...
Something that really blew my mind when I first held my Xperia Z1 Compact, was the clear as sight camera viewfinder. Everything was just smooth and really satisfying to see even compared to non-Xperia flagships above it. Though it doesn't take that great of picture, this was definitely something nice to have in every device.
Many say that manufacturer skins ruined Android and made it slow, this can be said about Touchwiz UX and LG UX but not to Xperia UX. It was by far the best skinned, right-out-of-the-box Android experience I've ever used. Not only light and fast, it is far more customizable with the downloadable themes in the Play Store. If I could, I'd install Xperia UX in my Note 4... only if it retains the multi-window though.
Have you ever changed devices and wish that your new shiny device had something from your older device? Let me know in the comment.
