The Tech World Need a Nokia N90 Comeback

The Nokia N90, one the most notable mobile phone from the once great Nokia. When it first released back in 2005 it just blew my mind, never have I seen a unique approach of mobile camera at that time. The TV ad was spot on in pointing its strongest point, the camera. Granted, at that time, mobile camera wasn't that great compared to even the cheapest portable camera.

N90 may have been an old fossil by now but in this ever evolving mobile market, there are a few reasons why we might need a new N90.

Camera Focused Mobile Phone Era

Fast forward to 2016, mobile camera has leaped miles ahead of regular portable camera, making it only below high end DSLRs. The convenience of having not having to bring two devices just for taking a good quality photo has made camera one of the most important selling point of today's mobile phone.

There are numerous of smartphone with great camera in the market today; iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S series, LG V series, and many more. Camera features are also slowly but surely evolving, we've seen implementation of multiple cameras, multiple LED flashes, different approach of focusing, OIS, and many more.

Picture and Motion Picture Focused Social Network

Snapchat, Instagram, YoutTube, all these social network have one thing in common, it mainly needs a camera. A really fitting place for the N90. There's no back and front camera for the N90 because of its form factor, you get the same camera quality whether you're recording the panorama around you or you're vlogging to your viewer. Manufacturers also will only need to be focusing its camera innovations on one camera, or side of the camera if they have more than one camera modules.

A Different Form Factor

Flip, swivel, slide... those were the few form factors that are now almost long gone after the iPhone was announced. Nowadays, every mobile phone in the market are just a big slab of screen. Although, it was exciting to see an all screen phone in the past, now it just gets boring and gets harder and harder to differentiate between phones and evolving its for factors.

Granted, there are a few attempts of breaking this form factor by means of modularity. But not many phones have implemented this yet, and some aren't that good either *cough, LG GFail. A new form factor would bring a breath of fresh air to today's mobile phone market, especially if it runs Android.

Because everyone wants a removable chin

So what do you think? Do you want a new N90 reincarnation or are there other phones from the past you'd rather have?
